Hmmmm... I wish that's what my GPA was right now!  In my dreams!!!  I set out to run 4ish miles and came out with 4.02.  So that was pretty much perfect.  Nice temps here; starting in the 40's.  Today was the first day we've had above freezing in 2 weeks!  Some people were out grilling and it smelled so so so good.  The fat kid in me wanted to stop and have a bite to eat.  I was definitely hot by the end of my run.  I turned down a side street I haven't ran since summer in order to get my 4 miles in.  I was at 3.6ish without that street.  Well I think about 107 dogs must live down there (.5 mile dead end road).  Most of them were not fenced; another perk of country life!  They were barking at me and it was kinda scary as I'm a big sissy.  I kinda clapped my hands at the most forceful one and said "go away" (I know... how intimidating) and he kinda sorta left me alone after that.  I found my iPod yesterday after it had been missing for a few weeks.  My car likes to eat things sometimes.  Note to KP:  Clean your car out.  I only listen to it on solo runs.  Tonight I had a nice combination of Journey's Greatest Hits, The Eagles Greatest Hits, and Simon & Garfunkels Greatest Hits.  Needless to say it was a very mellow run.  My favorite song for the night:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HdP3nZMZQbs  Hmmmm... anyways.

So I got all the way back home and was climbing the stairs to go into the house and the outside of my right knee starts throbbing.  It is still hurting.  Ouch!  Wonder what it is.

How's the knee feeling?

Can't go wrong with Journey, the Eagles, or Simon and Garfunkel...what was the playlist?

Oh gosh... Well, Simon and Garfunkel seemed to be the favorite last night.

Sound of Silence

Bridge over Troubled Water

Journey's Don't Stop Belivin' was a fun one. The Eagles "Seven Bridges Road" is always a favorite. I like the way they harmonize in it. I'm pretty sure "Peaceful Easy Feeling" played too. That's probably about the extent of it. Short, very mellow run. None of those songs are real upbeat. Kinda how I felt last night; I was dragging.

I feel your pain. I copped out last night and hit the treadmill. After facing the cold most days for the last two weeks, I really wanted some mindless running.

In their own way, the mellowed out runs can be some of the best...

The dreadmill. Ugh. I generally don't like going to the gym simply because so many people are around. I always see about 46.3 people I know and I don't want to deal with that when I'm working up a sweat. I understand wanting to get out of the cold though. I think that was part of my problem last night. I'm tired of the frigid temps. The fat on my legs and my running tights didn't do a very good job of keeping my lower extremities warm. My upper body was hot though; what a combination!

I just hate treadmills in general. Although I particularly loathe going to the gym right after New Years and right before spring break due to the resolution crowd and the "i've got to get a six pack in the next week and a half to look good at the beach" crowd.

Oddly enough, my legs are rarely the issue when I run (at least, as far as being cold is concerned...). I think the blood flow is heavy enough in my legs to keep them warm, but my upper body freezes without layers and layers. I'm just ready for warm weather to get back; I'm tired of these windy 20 degree runs...

How is your knee??

Okay, here is what to do with dogs: carry a big rock and learn to yell really loud and deep. That usually does the trick. There are certain parts of my run where I break into a sweat because I know a dog will come after me, and those are the country parts of the run. Darn country!!!

Glad you had some nice running weather, the smell of BBQ would have driven me nuts! That sounds so good!!!!

Have a good rest of the week and i hope you are feeling okay!

Knee is feeling a bit better but I can still feel a bit of tightness in it. It's behind my knee cap. I can poke and prod my knee all day with no problem but when I try to walk/run it is a sharp pain. I've decided to take it easy for a few days. So I'll start back with my trail run on Saturday and hopefully it will be good as new. I've got a lot going on this week with classes starting back (I can already tell it will be a LONG semester) and pure mayhem at work so a few days off will be good for me mentally.

You seriously run with a rock? The whole time? I think I'd just take the chance of getting bit. It'll probably happen one day and I'll be ruined for life. Until then I'll just run with no protection.

No, I just pick up a rack when I see a dog or in the few areas that there is ALWAYS a dog!!

Take care this week, I hope you get some rest from the mayhem and that the weekend run goes well.
