Happy National Running Day!

Although I didn't have much time in my schedule to squeeze in a run, I knew I wanted to participate in National Running Day.  So, I ran 1 mile fast to the pool in 7:39.  This was on a full belly too.  I had literally just eaten dinner and walked out the door.  Blah.  I probably could've been 10 or so seconds faster as I slowed down at the beginning to let my buddy catch up but then I ended up leaving him again because I wanted to run hard.

Played at the pool for 2 hours and then had an obligatory ice cream sandwich as I was leaving.  Ran a nice, easy, conversational pace (9:12) home with my buddy after devouring the ice cream.

Good day!

More importantly, Friday is National Donut Day.  If ever a food deserved a national day, it's the doughnut.  Krispy Kreme (my closest donut place) is giving away free donuts!

Good for you! I am a total slacker. I meant to run, but I slept in yesterday thinking I would run after work. Then my son had a "behavioral crisis" in the afternoon that crushed my plans for the rest of the day.

That's a speedy mile you did there. I had no idea it was National Running Day. But I ran, so I guess it's all good.

glad you were able to celebrate national running day. great split on a full stomach...i wish i could do that.

From auntieem on Thu, Jun 03, 2010 at 13:54:43 from 24.18.77.246

I would throw up if I ran that hard with food in my stomach. I'll call you Iron Woman from now on. I have a friend who participated in law enforcement torch run here; she ran five miles with a police escort! And, she was on the news! How cool is that.

From Bonnie on Thu, Jun 03, 2010 at 13:56:48 from 64.119.33.134

Oh KP, you are a Southern Gal, that is for sure, for whom Krispy Creme is a State food (along with anything deep fried, veggies, pickles, just about anything ;-))

You rock.

From The Quiet Pirate on Thu, Jun 03, 2010 at 15:49:34 from 24.199.205.252

Nice pace on a full belly. I think that pace with a stomach full of food would cause severe problems for me.

You're really keeping active with running and swimming.

Thank you for the heads up on Friday...I'll be stopping by the KK for a treat :-)

From Nevels on Thu, Jun 03, 2010 at 15:57:48 from 131.204.15.93

krispy kreme and running....was there ever a better combination?

From KP on Thu, Jun 03, 2010 at 16:25:26 from 65.208.22.26

i seem to run on a full stomach a lot. you'll notice that i don't skip meals... i love to eat too much! i really do think y'all could do it too; just give it a try. my "full stomach" consisted of a cheeseburger with mustard, chips and mexican cheese dip, pudding, lays chips, and a reese cup. yes... it was quite the variety. most every "meal" i eat is.

bonnie - you are absolutely correct. i LOVE fried foods! i have a friend that moved to huntsville from green bay about 3.5 years ago. she runs more now than she ever did, yet she has gained 30 lbs. she blames it on the fried foods. everything down here is fried, and every function you attend is centered around food.

QP - the swimming is just for fun. i try to spend quite a bit of time at the pool over the summer. while you're out running (what i should be doing) i'm soaking up the sun.

john - i couldn't agree more. you going to do the krispy kreme challenge this year?? i'd actually like to try it. i think.

Oh sweet heaven!! Friday is national doughnut day?!? All my stress just left my body knowing that I'll get to eat doughnuts tomorrow!!! Thanks KP, you truly are the greatest!

Oh, and nice job on the speedy run. We may have to re-evaluate our .2 race...especially with you getting speedy and me eating 50 doughnuts on Friday :)

From Derunzo on Thu, Jun 03, 2010 at 22:30:20 from 98.229.131.173

I'd have to take a couple of stops in the woods after a meal like that. Sign me up!

From flatlander on Fri, Jun 04, 2010 at 01:32:11 from 76.31.26.153

My mom is from Mississippi but I grew up in Arizona, never knew I was eating southern food until I moved to Houston and started getting the same thing in restaurants. She couldn't make donuts like KK though. I think if you run to the shop, order one and run back then repeat, you could do round trips all day with no damage.

From beef on Fri, Jun 04, 2010 at 10:03:39 from 74.78.64.158

I didn't know about national running day but I did know about the donut day. I guess I know where my priorities are now!

From Michelle on Fri, Jun 04, 2010 at 10:09:49 from 97.118.36.161

You are doing a great job of getting miles in this week! I like how you run a few miles here and there and then by the end of the day you have a substantial total. Thanks for the heads of on national doughnut day!

From vinh on Fri, Jun 04, 2010 at 10:30:31 from 75.77.22.187

Whoa look at the speedy mile. I think you can hit a sub 7 min mile with some speed training.

From Lily on Fri, Jun 04, 2010 at 11:56:58 from 67.199.181.73

Well sounds like I better go get a doughnut :)

From RivertonPaul on Fri, Jun 04, 2010 at 13:52:06 from 67.42.27.114

Get out and run!

From Scott Wesemann on Fri, Jun 04, 2010 at 16:09:18 from 66.239.250.209

In Utah we have these big chocolate donuts from a place called Dunford Donuts. They are a little (big) slice from heaven, especially if they are warm. Only problem is they have 500 cals a piece. Yep. I think I'll go have one.

Have a great weekend.

From RAD on Fri, Jun 04, 2010 at 16:34:19 from 67.172.229.125

NOOOO...are they really 500 calories each? You know that was the doughnut I had this morning! Who in the world can pass up a dunford chocolate on chocolate doughnut? Especially on National Doughnut day?!? I guess maybe it's a good thing I didn't buy 2 like I was planning :)

From KP on Fri, Jun 04, 2010 at 16:38:19 from 65.208.22.26

HOW do you limit yourself to just one? oh my! let me just say that i have had A LOT more than one donut today... a whole lot more. they are certainly worth it in my opinion. i'm running a race tomorrow; the calories will burn off :)

From RAD on Fri, Jun 04, 2010 at 16:45:43 from 67.172.229.125

I had to go to the gas station (where you buy the Dunford Doughnuts) and I only bought one. That is how I have to do it! If they were sitting in front of me (or I'd have bought a dozen) I would've eaten them all. This is what happened when I bought a dozen last weekend from KK :)

From rAtTLeTrAp on Fri, Jun 04, 2010 at 16:56:19 from 72.102.151.89

500 calories? That's only about 5 or 6 miles per donut :)

From Scott Wesemann on Fri, Jun 04, 2010 at 18:24:29 from 66.239.250.209

Rad- Yep, sorry to say 500 Cals. I looked it up and it bummed me out for a while too. I used to eat a lot of those. Hey, you can buy a whole box of them at Costco. DO IT!! :)

From Kelli on Fri, Jun 04, 2010 at 23:16:57 from 71.219.93.114

Glad I skipped out on the doughnut and got ice cream instead!

KP----great job on the FAST full belly mile, very impressive!

From Smooth on Fri, Jun 04, 2010 at 23:46:24 from 174.23.172.155

Have you ever run the Kripie Kreme challenge race? You get to down a dozen of that mid run. You will be great at that, doing both things you love at the same time!

From Teena Marie on Sun, Jun 06, 2010 at 19:23:00 from 174.52.45.85

You make me laugh!! :)

That was a fast mile!!! You deserved that icecream sandwich!

How are you? Why no posts?
