First run in 18 days.  Longest run since Septemberish.  Hillish route.

Perfect running weather at 45ish degrees at 5PM.  Passed the same man twice wearing sweatpants, sweatshirt with hood up, toboggan, gloves, and a reflective vest.  He was also wearing a headlamp and carrying a flashlight.  I had on shorts and a white s/s tech shirt.  We were certainly dressed for different weather.  I don't think I'd wear that much if it were 10 degrees outside.  I was sweating other than my hands which were FROZEN.  If I were skinny, I do believe I would've taken my shirt off and wrapped my hands up in it.  They were that cold.  Alas, I am not skinny.  I didn't want to scare the poor people passing in their cars.

As y'all know, we had SNOW at Christmas!  Well, it has all melted other than the snowmen people built (which are everywhere, btw - we don't get snow often).  So as I was running down the sidewalk, a snowman's head had all the melting he could handle and rolled off and hit my leg.  First of all, it scared me half to death.  I screamed.  I tripped.  I fell in the grass.  It wasn't pretty.  AND IT WAS COLD.

I had stomach cramps the whole time.  Could it be because this is what I had to eat yesterday:  chick fil a biscuit and hashbrowns with coke; then a coworker brought in a coffee cake to work... had to have some of it too with lots of coffee; firehouse sub, chips and coke; chocolate chip cookie; chick fil a sandwich and mountain dew; puppy chow; gummy bears.  How have I not gained any weight?  No running and still eating like that.  Sheesh...  And, since when do I drink so many cokes?!?!?  I normally drink water!  I like water!  It's because I ate out a lot yesterday... coke comes with the combo.

And, it'll probably be another 18 days before I run again.  LAME.

Good job on the run! I think it's hardest to go out after missing a few days. Sorry about the cramps. Thanks for the funny story about the snowman's head. :)

lol...the attack of the snowmen! Do you watch "The Office"? Somewhat reminiscent of the last episode :)

Maybe you should've asked the bundled up guy for an extra scarf or gloves for your hands. Perhaps he overdressed and was ready to shed some layers? That or he's just a clothes whore and has to wear as many as he can everywhere he goes!

Your day of eating sounds delish! Do you know how long it's been since I've had a coke? TOO long! I don't drink any caffeine while nursing...six months down, six months to go! You can count the Mtn Dew as sympathy drinking for me :)

From nevels on Thu, Dec 30, 2010 at 13:43:32 from 155.74.2.253

you mean you're not running the FA?

lame.

RAD: phrase of the day: "sympathy drinking for me" - i might have to use that one later...

From catherine on Thu, Dec 30, 2010 at 13:45:41 from 216.49.181.254

No caffeine while nursing, either? Boo.

From RAD on Thu, Dec 30, 2010 at 13:55:40 from 67.172.229.125

Nevels, I need a LOT of people to do sympathy drinking for me, so please employ it well!

Catherine, I can drink caffeine and I have with my other kids, but when I've tried with this baby he is such a finicky sleeper as is that it makes things really bad. So, I've opted to not. Another reason why I'm always tired!

From KP on Thu, Dec 30, 2010 at 15:01:13 from 65.208.22.25

RAD - so no coffee? ACK!

Nevs - I'm volunteering FA. You're welcome. I'll drink a beer for every lap you do. Get to runnin' boy!

RAD - can I have a beer (or 47) for you on NYE? I consider that to be a few sympathy drinks ;)

Catherine - being preggo is sucking more and more, huh? ;)

From RAD on Thu, Dec 30, 2010 at 15:31:34 from 67.172.229.125

KP, I'm a crazy Mormon, never had coffee. Honestly don't like the smell of it much either. We take our caffeine in small cold doses with a bit of a fizz...this also makes up for the no alcohol thing. So, yes - drink on! Sometimes I think it's a good thing I abstain from drinking, because I think I'd probably end up in AA in a matter of months if I didn't!

Pregnancy isn't all that bad...it's the ensuing months and years you should worry about! :)

I love the zombie snowman head attack story :) Did you say puppy chow?

From KP on Thu, Dec 30, 2010 at 15:48:58 from 65.208.22.25

RAD - I did not know that Mormon's don't do caffeine! I need to study up on my Mormon knowledge, obviously! I knew y'all didn't do alcohol, thus the beer joke. Wow! So even if I lived there, we couldn't meet for weekly Starbucks dates :(

RT - I SURE DID! That stuff is just heavenly. nom nom nom nom nommmmmmmm

From rAtTLeTrAp on Thu, Dec 30, 2010 at 16:00:15 from 75.196.24.194

I love my coffee and even an occasioal beer, but puppy chow is forbidden.

From RAD on Thu, Dec 30, 2010 at 16:19:16 from 67.172.229.125

Oh no! We'd meet for a weekly Starbucks date! They've got great steamers and hot chocolate - not to mention yummies!

From The Quiet Pirate on Thu, Dec 30, 2010 at 17:58:34 from 71.77.158.102

KP- please tell me that puppy chow is some clever nick name for a human snack.

I've already met RAD's caffiene requirements as well as my own for the rest of this year as well as into mid-January. Someone else can pick up after MLK holiday.

Love the snowman story. Perfect timing!

When I ran in SLC with RAD, I was wearing 3 more layers than everyone else there. Cold is all relative, I think. Maybe the guy you saw was from Puerto Rico or somewhere warm like that.

Thanks for the stories, you have the most interesting runs on the blog.
