Blogging live from our nation's capital.

After a 10-hour ride through the rolling hills of Georgia, Tennennesse, and Virginia today and a 4-hour drive from Huntsville to Atlanta last night, my back and hips were aching terribly.  Oh, and I had to share a bed with my mom.... not a restful night whatsoever.  I really don't think I slept at all.  I ran 3.5 on the treadmill on a full stomach.  It wasn't the most pleasent experience, but I'm glad to have it over with and have gotten a few miles in.

Lots of walking to come for the rest of the week and hopefully a bit more running...

Highlight of the trip so far would be our $126 welcome to the great state of Virginia:

 

You can tell that this is a total girls trip and that we're having a good time when we take a picture of the officer giving us a ticket while laughing hysterically...

we mocked the 'stache for the rest of the drive. We were going 78 in a 65 but really did think the speed limit was 70. He informed us "no ma'am, the speed limit drops when you cross the virginia state line" and then proceeded to apologize but still give us a ticket. we were maybe 10 miles into virginia... i don't have a good impression of the state so far. we tried joking with him and that didn't work either. arghhhh...

i have to say, i've taken many road trips in my life, and i've never seen anywhere near the amount of cops that we did today. i'd say at least 50. it was nuts! it made for a long, slow day.

Virginia and some parts of Southern Maryland are notirious for speeding tickets.

That moustache is creepy. He could work in the adult film industry with a 'stache like that.

Carolyn, that video is hilarious!!!!

He did not know I was taking the picture. We tried joking with him but he was having none of it. At this time I'm sure he was explaining to my friend the procedures for either paying online, mailing in a check, or showing up for a court date in Virginia.

I was on a fun girl's trip several years ago with a cop incident too! It turned out really fun! We have pictures with him cuffing us and everything! He was so cool! No ticket for us and lots and lots of laughs for a very fun girl's trip!
